UPDATE: Two teens arrested for making bomb threat to West High

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Two teens have been charged in connection with the bomb threat that forced the evacuation of Waterloo West High School on Wednesday morning.

Waterloo Police say Robert Austin Carlisle, 16, and Ryan Anthony Crowley, 18, both of Waterloo, were arrested after the investigation.

Both are charged with Bomb Threats and False Reports, both Class D Felonies.

Waterloo Police say calling a bomb threat in to a school is punishable by up to 5 years in prison and up to a $7,500 fine.

The Waterloo Community School District says the threat was called in at 7:35 Wednesday morning.  School staff conducted a thorough sweep of the building after everyone was evacuated and nothing suspicious was found during the sweep.

Sharon Miller, spokeswoman for the district, says only classrooms and common areas were checked because that was all the threat warranted.

Miller adds that while this threat was not very credible, they take every threat seriously.  The level of response to each threat varies, based on the credibility of the threat.

Students and faculty then returned to the building and the school day proceeded as normal.
