Wolverines hoping fourth time is a charm

DIKE (KWWL)-- An impressive streak continues as we embark on the 2010 high school state volleyball tournament as Dike New Hartford makes its fourth straight post season appearance.

The Wolverines finished the season 35-8 ranked eighth in class 2A.

Even after losing one of the better players in school history in Hannah Willms to graduation as well as their entire back row... D-NH is thinking this could be the year that they bring home their first state title since 1997.

"Volleyball in this particular part of the state is so competitive.  There's so many teams that could have strong traditions or strong programs, so to make it for the fourth year in a row, it's a great honor for this young group," said head coach Diane Harms.

"It's so much fun.  Each year it just seems like it gets more exciting and now being our last years, for us seniors, we're just so excited to play," said senior Ashtyn Dove.

The Wolverines open up against Grundy Center Thursday night.  Class 3A and 4A begins first round action Wednesday in Cedar Rapids.
