Mayton pleads guilty to assaulting prosecutor


DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- A Dubuque man convicted of murder, has pleaded guilty to assaulting the prosecutor after the jury's guilty verdict came down.

Our coverage partners at the Dubuque Telegraph-Herald say Michael Mayton pleaded guilty Monday to willful injury in the attack on Ralph Potter.

Mayton was found guilty in the stabbing death of David Tate and stabbing Richard Schramm Jr. on July 9.

After the verdict, Mayton hit the Dubuque County Attorney with his cuffed hands.

Mayton was sentenced to 55 years in prison in the stabbing case on October 26 and is scheduled to be sentenced for willful injury on November 29th.
