CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Six people were arrested early Thursday morning following three fights outside of Brick's Bar in an hour.

Police were flagged down outside the bar at around 12:30 am by Drew Munson, the owner of Brick's Bar on 2nd Avenue SE. Munson told police that he and some of his employees were assaulted and he wanted to file charges.

After Munson pointed them out, police approached Taranasha L. Jackson, 21, of Cedar Rapids and her boyfriend, Darryl D. Johnson, 24, of Mount Vernon. Police say Jackson took off her shirt and began yelling obscenities toward the officers.

When officers tried to arrest Jackson, they say Johnson jumped on Officer Tracy Schmidt's back and punched him in the face several times.

Sgt. Cristy Hamblin, spokeswoman for the Cedar Rapids Police Department, says Jackson was intoxicated and claimed she was pregnant and injured. Hamblin added that Jackson had to be carried to the police car.

Officers took Jackson to St. Luke's Hospital as a precaution, but when they got there, Jackson became uncooperative again. Hamblin says she refused to walk into the hospital and refused a wheelchair. When they finally got Jackson into the hospital, Hamblin says Jackson bit Officer Stacy Baye's finger and kicked her.

Jackson was treated and taken to the Linn County Jail.

Witnesses told police that Jackson and Johnson started fighting inside the bar, and when employees tried to break it up, Johnson pushed employee Jonathan Bagley against the wall and punched him in the face several times, causing a black eye and scratches on his face and neck. Police say Jackson was also punching and hitting Bagley. Police say employees Chad Coutts and James Soukup were also assaulted while trying to remove the couple from the bar.

Hamblin says none of the employees or officers had to be taken to the hospital for their injuries.

Jackson is charged with four counts of assault, two counts of assault on a peace officer, public intoxication and interference with official acts.

Johnson is charged with three counts of assault and interference with official acts.

Police were still at the bar around 1:30 a.m. when another fight broke out in the parking lot, Hamblin said. Three women who were involved were arrested, she said.

When officers arrived at Brick's for the first incident, they saw two women fighting in front of the bar. They arrested Marjorie Coleman, 30, of Cedar Rapids. She is charged with Disorderly Conduct. Police could not locate the second woman.

While officers were leaving Brick's following the first two fights at about 1:30 am, another fight broke out. Police arrested KeShawn Rich, 21, Lakeisha Harvey, 31 and Brittani Dunn, 21.

All three are charged with Disorderly Conduct. Rich faces an additional charge of Interference with Official Acts and Harvey faces an additional charge of Public Intoxication.
