Registering to vote on Election Day

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Polling places around the state open at 7:00 a.m. Tuesday morning and it's not too late to register to vote.

If you are registering to vote on election day you must bring your drivers licence with a current address on it.

If your licence does not have your current address you will need something such as a utility bill to show your proof of residency.

Absentee voting was up this year and may play a role in how many people actually visit a polling place on Tuesday.

"As it increases it's less and less an indicator of election day turnout because it's taking more and more of those votes who are normally waiting until election day," said Grant Veeder, Black Hawk County Auditor.

Some absentee votes have already been counted, but results won't be reported until after the polls close at 9:00 p.m. Tuesday night.
