City High outlasts Linn-Mar 43-27

Posted:

IOWA CITY (KWWL)-- It was another offensive outburst at Bates Field between City High and Linn-Mar that ended in favor of the Little Hawks.

City High connected on a 56-yard touchdown pass from Andrew McNulty to Connor Alberhasky in the closing minutes, to hold on to win 43-27.

It's the second time in a matter of weeks the Little Hawks beat the Lions at Bates field.

In the first half, the two teams went back forth with City taking a 21-14 lead into the break.

In the second half, the Lions would battle to within one after a Mark Atwater score on a 15 yard keeper.

But that's as close, as the Lions would get.

Andrew McNulty catapulted himself inside the pylon for a 25 yard third quarter score.  The two point conversion was then good to make it 29-20 Little Hawks.

Linn-Mar did pull within two after Atwater hit Jer Garman for a five yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.  But McNulty would hit Alberhasky on a 3rd and 19 on the next series for the dagger touchdown.

The Little Hawks will play Cedar Falls on Friday.
