A festive front yard

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- One Dubuque family has decked out their entire front lawn in Halloween decorations for more than 20 years.

The Neuses family home on the corner of Kane Street and Primrose Court is known throughout the neighborhood and the city for its elaborate decorations on Halloween and Christmas.

Mom Kathy Neuses said about 10,000 bulbs and ten inflatables make up their Halloween 2010 display - the biggest ever.

She said they start hanging lights in late September to have everything on and running by Oct. 1.

Though it's a lot of hard work, she said people's enjoyment makes the decorations worthwhile.

"Little kids, seeing the look on their faces. That's all that matters, you know. It's just the spirit of it, it's so much fun. I just love Halloween, it's the best time of the year," Neuses said.

The family built a shed in the backyard just to house all their decorations, including a massive Christmas light display of between 30,000 and 40,000 lights. Neuses and her husband Richard said they plan on starting to hang lights for Christmas the first weekend in November.
