NEW DETAILS: Black Hawk County courthouse cleared after brawl

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Police cleared the Black Hawk County courthouse Friday night.

Officers were first called to a skirmish around 5:30 p.m. with reports of nearly 20 people involved. Black Hawk County officials say two people were arrested, for disorderly conduct and simple assault. No serious injuries were reported. Officials say the fight took place in the hallway while  trial was taking place.

"The only thing I see, I grabbed the babies got on the elevator and left.  It was a big 'ol brawl, the Mills family hit one of the people's that was there, spectators just watched and out of no where, just went crazy," Lora Deering said.

Deering said the brawl was related to the Jasmine Mills trial.  Mills was beaten to death at a Waterloo gas station parking lot in December 2008.  Dontay Sanford and Javon Collins are on trial for burglary charges in the attack.  Both pleaded not guilty.

Shean Holmes is already serving 25 years for burglary and involuntary manslaughter in the attack.
