Aspirin may reduce risk of dying from prostate cancer

Posted:

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Prostate cancer patients who take aspirin may reduce their risk of dying from the disease.

Researchers say aspirin use combined with radiation therapy or surgery could cut that risk by more than half in patients whose cancer has not yet spread.

The benefit was even greater among patients with high-risk prostate cancer, who have fewer treatment options.

Aspirin was not as effective in men whose cancer had already spread beyond the prostate gland.
