Fewer pheasants expected in Iowa

DES MOINES (KWWL) -- Weather issues may be to blame for fewer pheasants this hunting season in Iowa.  The Dept. of Natural Resources says hard winters and soggy springs caused a steady decline in the number of pheasants.  A roadside survey in August by the state biologist found 30% fewer pheasants.  It's the 4th consecutive year the pheasant population has declined.  Pheasant season starts Saturday.
