FAYETTE COUNTY (KWWL) -- Two men have been arrested on arson charges after a Hawkeye home was destroyed in a fire.

In March, firefighters responded to a house fire on Pearl Street in Hawkeye. The house was considered a total loss and the fire was ruled suspicious. The home was owned by Joey Lee Swatek, 29, of Fayette.

The investigation lasted 7 months and lead tot he arrest of Swatek and 29 year-old Daryl Dean Wilkins of Ridgeway. Both were charged with First Degree Arson. Both made initial court appearance on Thursday and were released to pre-trial services by the court. If convicted, both could face 25 years in prison.

The Fayette County Sheriff's Office says the fire is still under investigation and more arrests could be made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office.
