Crews battle rural Covington house fire

COVINGTON (KWWL)-- More than a half a dozen fire crews spent their night battling a house fire in rural Covington.

Palo Fire Crews responded to the fire at 2223 Covington Road around 7 p.m. Tuesday. Officials say there is extensive damage to the home. Everyone inside the home at the time of the fire escaped, without injury. Crews from Palo, Shellsburg, Atkins, Hiawatha, Fairfax, Monroe Township, and Cedar Rapids were on the scene of the fire. They left the scene by 10:30.

Fire crews have not determined a cause.
