LA PORTE CITY (KWWL) -- Sixth ranked Union has already clinched the class 3-A District Five championship, but the Knights are playing for a top seed and an undefeated regular season.
Vinton-Shellsburg on the other hand is in a four way tie for third place in the district and need a win to secure a playoff berth.
The Knights came out fired up, but the Vikings would almost put them to sleep with their style of play.
Union would get on the board first. Star running back Wes Burnside would take it in from three yards out. Burnside would start the game just 84 yards short of 2000 yards for the season. The extra point would be good and the Knights would go up by seven.
Vinton-Shellsburg would start a very long drive, which would last a good portion of the first half. It would be capped off by Logan Williams who get a little help from teammates as they push him over the goal line.
The Vikings drive included 20 plays and took up 11 minutes of the first half.
In the second half Union would find their grove and stop the Vikings time management. Union stays undefeated as they roll 29 to 14.
Wes Burnside would finish the game with three touchdowns and Trev Hadachek would score one as well.
