UPDATE: Iowa State defeats Texas for the first time, 28-21


AUSTIN, Texas (KWWL) - Iowa State defeats Texas for the first time, 28-21.

1st Quarter-

QB Austen Arnaud connected on an 18-yard touchdown pass to Darius Reynolds to put Iowa State up 7-0 in the first quarter. It capped an 11-play, 80-yard drive 5:23 drive.

2nd Quarter-

The Longhorns' Justin Tucker kicked a 23-yard FG with 14:05 remaining in the second quarter to cut the Iowa State lead to 7-3.

Alexander Robinson's one-yard touchdown run put the Cyclones up 14-3 with 9:23 remaining in the first half. The touchdown finished at 7-play, 37-yard drive.

At the end of the second half the Longhorns missed a field goal.

Iowa State took a 14-3 lead into halftime.

3rd Quarter-

Texas kicker Justin Tucker tacked a 21-yard-field goal to trim State's lead 14-6.

Later in the third, Austen Arnaud threw his second touchdown of the day hitting Dubuque Hempstead grad Josh Lenz for 15 yards to make it 21-6 Cyclones.

4th Quarter-

Alexander Robinson put Iowa State up 28-6 with a 20-yard touchdown run with 12:47 left in the game.

Texas found the endzone when Garrett Gilbert connected with John Chiles for a 17-yard touchdown. The Longhorns converted the two-pointer to cut the Cyclones' lead to 28-14.

Texas scored a few minutes later when Garrett Gilbert threw to Malcolm Williams for 9 yards for a score with 3:15 left in the game.
