Dubuque police investigate armed robberies

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -- Dubuque Police are investigating armed robberies.

Someone flagged down a Dubuque officer just after 3:00 Thursday afternoon to report an armed robbery at Rhomberg Avenue and Kniest Street.

Police found and arrested 16-year old Kendrick Bridges after witnessing him toss a gun at the scene. The victim in the robbery says he was attacked by two people during a drug sale. Bridges was charged with 1st degree robbery, possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

Another juvenile has been charged with 1st degree robbery but has not been taken into custody.

A second robbery was reported later Thursday evening. Police say a cab driver was robbed in the 200 block of E. 21st St. around 4:45 Thursday afternoon. the driver said he drove the suspect from Platteville, Wisconsin to Dubuque. The driver says when they got to their destination, the suspect took out a gun and robbed the driver of some cash.
