IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Iowa City Police have arrested a man they say admitted to a number of vehicle burglaries.

On Monday, police released a surveillance photo of the man they believe committed the burglaries in the parking lot of 319 E. Court Street.

At around 6:00 Monday evening, police received a call from a citizen saying that three men were acting suspiciously on the top level of the Court Street Transportation Center Ramp.  The caller told police that one of the men looked like the burglary suspect in the surveillance photo.

Iowa City Police responded and found Michael Hannigan, 30, wearing the same clothing as the suspect in the photo.

Hannigan admitted to police that he was the person in the photo and responsible for the vehicle burglaries at 319 E. Court Street.

Michael Hannigan is charged with two counts of 3rd Degree Burglary-2nd or Subsequent Offense and Possession of a Controlled Substance for marijuana that was found on him.

Hannigan was taken to the Johnson County Jail.
