Waterloo man back in Iowa for trial

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- A Waterloo man is back in Iowa to face charges related to a shooting last July, at a Waterloo gas station.

25-year-old Tavares Montgomery was booked into the Black Hawk County jail this week.

Police say Montgomery was getting gas at the Kwik Star on Broadway Street when two men approached him.

They say Montgomery pulled out a gun and shot one of the men in the chest, then ran away.

Montgomery was later caught in Wisconsin, where he faced felony gun possession charges stemming from his arrest.

No date has been set for his trial.
