City High prevails in battle of unbeatens 47-32

IOWA CITY (KWWL)-- It was a roller coaster ride, but in the end second-ranked City High outlasted number six Linn-Mar 47-32 at Bates field.

The Little Hawks looked poised to blow out the Lions after Cedric Readus took a kick back 90 yards to make it 26-10.

But the Lions came roaring back, rattling off 22 unanswered.  Quarterback Mark Atwater gave Linn-Mar a 32-26 lead in the third quarter, after scoring on a seven yard run and converting the ensuing two-point try.

City High, however, would have the final say.  Quarterback Andrew McNulty capped off a long drive with a one yard keeper to give the Little Hawks a 33-32 lead in the final frame.  In the end, City High scored 21 straight points of their own, and strung together its 22nd consecutive win.
