Candidates give their stance on health issues

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Candidates in eastern Iowa got the chance to speak on health related matters Tuesday in Waterloo.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Black Hawk County Board of Health held a candidate forum to discuss public health issues that they see as a priority. The topics ranged from health care reform to tobacco prevention and even mental health services for schools.

Health officials say this is a great opportunity to hear from the candidates and find out where they stand on issues of public health.

"A sense that our candidates are engaged in the health of the community and also get a sense of what it is the board of health for Black Hawk County have identified as priority issues for the county," said the Director of the Black Hawk County Health Department, Bruce Meisinger.

The Black Hawk County Board of Health sponsors this forum every year before an election.
