IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- An Iowa City woman is facing charges after police say she assaulted her live-in boyfriend for not helping with the dishes.

Police were called to the 2100 block of Davis Street at around 10:00 Monday night on a report of a fight between a man and a woman.

Marvella Amber Lindsey, 22, told police that she threw something at her live-in boyfriend because "he wouldn't help with the dishes".

Police say Lindsey then hit her boyfriend several times in the head with a small broomstick.  He says that she also bit him on the back of the hand.

Lindsey is charged with Domestic Abuse/Assault without Intent Causing Injury.

She is also charged with Obstruction of Emergency Communication because police say when the victim's mother tried to call 9-1-1, Lindsey took the phone and threw it, causing it to break.
