Kernels announce 2011 schedule

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Fall is here and winter is just around the corner, but the Cedar Rapids Kernels are releasing their 2011 schedule.

The Kernels will begin the 2011 season on April 7, with a four-game series on the road in Peoria.

They will then return home to open their tenth season in Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday, April 11, with a 6:35 p.m. game against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

Again in 2011, Monday through Saturday games will begin at 6:35 p.m. and Sunday games will start at 2:05 p.m.

The Kernels will host eight noon games, April 27, May 9, May 19, May 25, June 8, July 11, July 18 and August 1.

Fireworks nights will also return starting Saturday, May 7.

Star Wars Night will be Friday, May 27 and Jimmy Buffett Night will be Saturday, August 20.

The Kernels will also have home games on Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day and the Fourth of July.
