AMES (KWWL) -- Big plays and turnovers doomed Iowa State as 10th ranked Utah stormed into town to post a 68-27 win over the Cyclones.
Austen Arnaud threw a pair of touchdowns but also countered that with a pair of picks as ISU faltered in their follow-up act after the win over Texas Tech. The Cyclones led 14-10 early in the game after capitalizing with a 2 yard Alexander Robinson score after a fumble recovery, while Arnaud hit Jake Williams on a 20 yard strike later for the lead. That was about the last good thing that happened for Iowa State.
Utah rattled off 34 unanswered points in the second and third quarters. The Utes scored about every which way possible including a reverse pass by receiver Shaky Smithson as well as a 100 yard kick return in the third quarter to counter a Cyclone touchdown.
The Cyclones (3-3) return to action next Saturday at 6th ranked Oklahoma.
