Xavier ruins East High's homecoming 49-6

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Cedar Rapids Xavier rolled into town to take on Waterloo East.

The Saints opening possession would end in a score, a 15 yard touchdown by Pat Chizek for a 7-0 lead. After an interception, Jared Volz would punch it in from the 1 for a 14-0 Xavier lead. The Saints take to the air for their next score. Andy Didio connected with Nathan Evan for a 12 yard TD. Xavier would jump on top 21-0.

But the Trojans would fight their way back into the game. Quarterback Desmond VanArsdale fought through 2 defenders on the keeper for a 6 yard touchdown to cut the lead to 21-6. East would get the ball back on an onside kick and drive to the 25 before an injury to VanArsdale. The drive stalled after that. With 2 minutes left in the half, Didio would connect with Ryan Mains for a 3 yard score to push the lead to 28-6. VanArsdale returned to the field to lead East down to the 25 before getting picked off to end the half with Xavier up 28-6.

In the end, the Saints rolled over the Trojans 49-6.
