Trial reset for man accused of threatening to blow up courthouse

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- A trial has been reset for a Cedar Rapids man accused of threatening to blow up the Linn County Courthouse.

Authorities say 43-Year-Old Robert Bates is charges with two felony counts of threats and one count of first degree harassment.

Bates' trial is now set for Dec. 20.

Police arrested him last year after he told mental health staff that he was going to buy explosives in Missouri and make national news by blowing up the courthouse.

Bates twice ran for the Cedar Rapids City Council.
