CDC urges everyone to get flu shot now

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KWWL) -- The Centers for Disease Control is urging everyone to get a flu shot, and get it now.

At a news conference in Washington, D.C., doctors said now is the time to get vaccinated for both the flu and the H1N1 virus before the diseases start to spread.

For the first time ever, this year, the flu shot is recommended for everyone six months of age or older - no special category to consider.

There's plenty of supply, and one shot covers both the seasonal flu and the H1N1 strain.

Last year more than 200,000 people were hospitalized with the flu.
