Crib Recall

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KWWL)--  More than 11-thousand baby cribs sold at JC Penny stores are being recalled because of a problem with the drop side rail.

The cribs were manufactured in China by Alexander Designs Limited.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the recall because the rail hardware can break, fail or be incorrectly assembled. This Allows the drop side to detach, creating a gap between the rail and the mattress.

Officials say an infant or toddler could get trapped, strangled or suffocate in that gap.

The cribs were sold in JC Penney catalogs and online at from March of 2003 to April of 2007.
