Iowa D.C. Parker has foot amputated

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Doctors have amputated the right foot of Hawkeye Defensive Coordinator Norm Parker.  Parker had been dealing with complications due to diabetes for the past month.

Iowa Head Coach Kirk Ferentz said Wednesday that Parker had the procedure about two weeks ago.  He says that Parker's turned a corner in his fight with diabetes, but likely will not return to coaching for the next few weeks.

The 68 year-old Parker was released from the hospital about one week ago and is currently at home under a doctor's care.
