New Hampton looking to sell airport

NEW HAMPTON (KWWL) -- New Hampton is looking at the idea of selling its city airport.

City Clerk Suellen Kolbet says the current airport budget is approximately $13,000/year, used for seal coating the runway, salaries, insurance and other expenses. She says the airport is primarily used by crop sprayers.

A public meeting is planned at the airport Monday, October 11, 2010 at 5:30 pm and will move to council chambers at around 6 pm.

The council is considering selling the airport's two runways and six hangars to minimize expenses.  The city is not looking to sell nearby property, including a park.
