DIKE (KWWL) -- Dylan Bellows 5 touchdowns proved to be the difference as Aplington-Parkersburg scraped by Dike-New Hartford 42-34 in an overtime thriller Friday night.
Dike-New Hartford's Eric Joblinske rushed for a whopping 244 yards in a losing effort. His 76 yard run late in the game had the Wolverines up 34-21 with 6 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter.
That's when Aplington-Parkersburg clawed back into the game scoring on back to back possessions. The first score came on an Austin Ryan keeper from 6 yards out to pull within 6. Bellows later scored from the one with just a minute remaining, but a blocked extra point would send the game to overtime tied at 34.
In the extra session, Bellows again scored from the one, while Ryan hit running back Jason Grill on the 2 point conversion to put the Falcons up 8. On their possession, the Wolverines drove to the 5, but saw 2 passes broken up on 3rd and 4th down to end the ball game.
The win moves Aplington-Parkersburg into first place in district play at 4-0, while the Wolverines move to 3-1.
