WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Hempstead and Waterloo West meet after both get big wins over their arch rivals.
It was homecoming for West High.
In the first quarter, the Mustangs' Brad Duwe with 75 yard punt return for a touchdown that was called back because of a holding penalty.
But Hempstead finally got on the board when quarterback Cody Leach scores from two yards out as Hempstead grabs a 6-0 lead early in the second quarter.
The Mustangs set up their next score when Leach dumps a pass across the middle to his tight end Chad Peppmeier who rumbles 25 yards to the West six yard line. Layton Fritisch scores on a three yard run. Hempstead takes a 13-0 lead. And the Mustangs improve to 4 and 2 on the season, crushing West High 47-7.
