Waterloo Columbus remains unbeaten in district play

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- After dropping its first two district games, Waterloo Columbus has come on strong winning three straight and gaining a share of the lead in 2A District Three. Central Springs is one and two in district play and looking to fight its way back into the postseason hunt.

The Central Springs Panthers totally controlled the ball in the first half with more than 220 total yards compared to the Sailors 49. They did it behind their ground attack of 180 pound senior Max Lund.

The Panthers would rack up more than 30 plays to the Sailors 8 before finally getting on the board with Lund cashing in from the right side making it 6-zip. The Panthers would go for two, but would be denied. Quarterback Colton Kisner would be gang tackled by the Sailors.

Columbus would finally begin to move the ball after a Central Springs punt gives the Sailors excellent field position on the Panthers' 30. Six plays later on a fourth and two with the clock running out the Sailors Jay Schmitt goes right down the middle and finds Craig Konrardy for the tying touchdown. The extra point was good giving the Sailors a 7 to 6 halftime homecoming lead.

The Sailors remain unbeaten in district play beating the Panthers 21 - 20.
