CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- The Cedar Rapids police say a fugitive is in custody after a manhunt involving Linn County law enforcement and the FBI.

Eastern Iowa Airport communications director Pam Hinman confirmed the federal authorities arrived at the airport around 2:30 p.m. Friday. They were searching for James Standfield who was wanted on an OWI violation.

It was believed that Standfield was on a bus bound for the airport and was supposed to get on another bus heading to Kansas City. When he didn't board the second bus, local law enforcement and the FBI began to search near the airport.

Sgt. Cristy Hamblin with the Cedar Rapids Police Department says Standfield was caught in the parking lot at the Clarion Inn on 33 Ave SW just before 7 p.m.

Communications officials with the FBI in Omaha, Nebraska say they are assisting other agencies in the operation and are not leading the effort.

Throughout the search, the airport was open and flights were not affected by the operation.
