WATERLOO (KWWL) -- The Waterloo Black Hawks are proud to take part in Breast Cancer Awareness Month once again this October, and Friday the team unveiled two new items which will support the Cedar Valley's Beyond Pink TEAM.
Throughout the coming month, Party Town Outfitters, the official souvenir store of the Black Hawks, will be offering pink cow bells for the first time ever and new pink T-shirts with the message "Check ‘em" and the Black Hawks alternate logo, which was introduced prior to the 2009-2010 season. Funds generated from these items this month, above costs, will go to Beyond Pink TEAM, a local organization which supports Breast Cancer patients and promotes early detection. Last October, Black Hawks fans helped raise more than $2,000 for Beyond Pink TEAM.
The Black Hawks' annual Breast Cancer Awareness Night will be Saturday, October 16th at 7:05PM against the Dubuque Fighting Saints. For the fifth consecutive year, the Cedar Valley Breast Care Center and Dr's. Douglas Duven and Jayson Gesme will sponsor the game in order to provide those in attendance with information on the benefits of early detection and screening for the disease which will affect one in eight women. Several Black Hawks players will use pink sticks or equipment, which will be auctioned during the game and also benefit Beyond Pink TEAM.
Tickets for Breast Cancer Awareness Night are currently available from the Waterloo Black Hawks Box Office and through the online ordering page at waterlooblackhawks.com. For more information, call the box office at (319) 291-7680.
