Record turnout for satellite voting in Johnson County
IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Johnson County has seen a record turnout when it comes to early satellite voting this week.
Auditor Tom Slockett says on Tuesday, more than 1,300 people voted at Burge Hall on the University of Iowa campus. Slockett says it was the most votes ever cast in a satellite voting location in Johnson County.
One hot topic on the Johnson County ballot this year is the 21-and-over ordinance that keeps people under the age of 21 out of drinking establishments after 10 p.m.
It's not clear if every vote this week came from a student, but the auditor says the majority of those who have voted so far, have been in that age group.
