Oregon woman charged for not complying with Iowa sex offender registry

WEST UNION (KWWL) -- An Oregon woman is facing charges after the Fayette County Sheriff's Office says she failed to register as a sex offender in Iowa.

Tammie Sue Benson-Whitehead, 48, of Junction City, Oregon, was arrested on Wednesday after deputies, acting on a tip, found her staying at 101 Jones Street, Suite B, in West Union.

Deputies say she is a sex-offender and is required to register in Iowa.

She was convicted of two counts of Second Degree Sexual Abuse in 2003.  The Iowa Sex Offender Registry says her victim was a boy between the ages of 14 and 17.
