MidWestOne Bank in Parkersburg recognized as eco-friendly

Posted:

PARKERSBURG (KWWL) -- The EF5 tornado took out MidWestOne bank in Parkersburg May 25th 2008.  The bank has since fully rebuilt, and is now more eco-friendly.  The bank says it's now the first bank in Iowa to be LEED Certified.

LEED Certification means it's more energy efficient and friendlier to the environment.

The bank doesn't look all that different today than it did before the tornado, but several design changes made a big difference, including better building materials, a geothermal heating and cooling system, more efficient lighting, and better insulation.

There was a dedication and open house for that distinction Thursday morning.
