EPA: Illinois not cracking down on pollution at factory farms

Posted:

CHICAGO, IL (KWWL) -- The Environmental Protection Agency is giving the state one month to figure out how to improve enforcemente programs for factory farms.  They say the state isn't doing enough to regulate water pollution at large confined-animal operations.  The EPA says an investigation found widespread problems, including failing to lock farms into permits limiting water pollution.  The Illinois EPA says it's reviewing the report and will work with the federal government to improve the state's programs.
