Iowa nets recruit from Cedar Rapids Washington

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Cedar Rapids Washington's Josh Oglesby has announced he will play basketball for the University of Iowa.

Oglesby, a 6' 5 1/2", 187 pound senior, made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon.

Oglesby is the 118th ranked player in the nation by Rivals.com and has been consistently ranked as one of the top 35 shooting guards in the country.

Oglesby had offers from Iowa, Arizona State, Creighton, Boston College, Illinois, Northern Iowa, Minnesota and Indiana State.  He visited Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois and Arizona State.

"I am excited about the future and being a Hawkeye.  I am glad that I can now focus on my senior year, get physically stronger and work on my game to help my team at Cedar Rapids Washington High School.  I am grateful for my high school teammates and have always loved playing for Washington High School.  I look forward to a great season and a great career at Iowa," Oglesby said in a written statement.

Oglesby gave a lot of credit for his success to his family, his coaches and his teammates.

Oglesby also said the he believes Coach Fran McCaffrey is going to be the one to bring Iowa Men's Basketball team back to where it was when he dreamt of being a Hawkeye.
