A Black Hawk County most wanted criminal caught after chase

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- One of Black Hawk County's "Ten Most Wanted" criminals was caught Tuesday night after a short chase.

Deputies say they saw Amanda Noel Cooley, 27, driving in Cedar Falls at around 6:50 Tuesday evening.  Cooley was wanted on a Felony Probation Violation Warrant with the original charge of Theft in the 2nd Degree.  She had recently been added to the Black Hawk County Sheriff's "Ten Most Wanted" list due to her charge and because she has been known to carry weapons and resist arrest.

After the deputy called for assistance, a traffic stop was made on Hwy. 218 near University Avenue in Cedar Falls.

Deputies say as they were approaching Cooley's vehicle on foot, she took off northbound on Hwy. 218.

Deputies say that as Cooley was trying to get away, she tried to pass two semi-trucks on the right shoulder and hit one of them and lost control of her vehicle and went into the east ditch.

Cooley was taken to Allen Hospital after complaining of arm pain and was taken to the Black Hawk County Jail after treatment.

Cooley's drivers license currently has ten suspensions.
