More Prescription Options for Seniors

WASHINGTON (KWWL)-- Seniors are expected to soon have more choices when it comes to Medicare's prescription drug-coverage.

A new study by Avalere Health will be released Wednesday. It says the number of plans offering some sort coverage to seniors in the coverage gap will triple next year, from 35 to 106. That would reverse a steady decline.

Brand-name drugs being offered to seniors in the gap, or donut hole, will be offered by at least two companies in every region.

Prescription benefits are expected to improve for low-income people whose premiums and co-payments are covered by taxpayers.
