Waterloo Clinic to start accepting IowaCare patients

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Options are expanding for the thousands of Iowans on the state's low-income health insurance plan.

IowaCare provides coverage to 38,000 adults, with incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.  Up to now, patients could only get treatment in Iowa City, but there are clinics opening in Sioux City and Waterloo.

The People's Clinic in Waterloo will start taking IowaCare patients Friday.  In Sioux City, patients will have the option of going to the Siouxland Community Health Center.

The IowaCare program started in 2005.  It replaced the Indigent Patient Care Program.  Since 2005, IowaCare has more than tripled in the number of patients it serves.
