House boats break loose due to high waters near Lansing

Posted:

LANSING (KWWL) -- High waters on the Mississippi River created quite a mess for houseboat owners near Lansing.

Monday afternoon, about 12 houseboats came untied and floated loose due to flooding in the area. The Allamakee County Sheriff's office tells us crews were investigating a gas leak due to the situation, but found none.

Authorities say all the boats have now been retrieved.

Thanks to Rhonda Wilson of Cedar Falls who let us know about this story. Her father, Bob Hansen, owns a houseboat in Lansing. Also thanks to Brigitte Sweeney for sending us photos of the high water.
