Iowa City man hospitalized after being robbed at gunpoint

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- An Iowa City man was hospitalized after he says he was robbed at gunpoint.

Police were called to Mercy Hospital just before 11:30 Saturday night.

Once there, officers talked with a man who said he was robbed at gunpoint between 10:00 pm and 11:00 pm while walking in the 2800 block of Highway 6.

He told officers that he was approached by three black men who demanded money.  He says he was then assaulted and held at gunpoint.

He described the three men as wearing dark masks, dark hooded sweatshirts and all dark clothing. He says one of the men has a black handgun and threatened to kill him. He said all three suspects ran east from the location.

Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1000 for information leading to the arrest of these suspects. Individuals providing information do not have to reveal their identity to collect a reward.
