There are four issues Byrnes says he will be focusing on:
1. Education- making sure we properly fund all levels of education in the state of Iowa....education is the most important tool we have to help move people and society forward...we have to preserve Iowa's reputation of being the leader in education.
2. Economic Development- we need to do a better job of retaining the companies we have and we need to do a better job of growing our own. There are many talented people in the state that have some great ideas for start up business...we need to help those people grow their dreams. The state of Iowa ranks 46th in creating a positive atmosphere for business...we need to improve that ranking.
3. State Fiscal Responsibility- the state of Iowa does not print money and we can only spend what we take in. The state is only supposed to spend 99% of what we take in and we haven't done a good job of adhering to that.
4. Agriculture- Agriculture is our biggest industry in the state of Iowa and we need less mandates and more support for agriculture in our state.
