HUDSON (KWWL) -- Tanner Wright scored three first-half touchdowns, as Hudson took early control on route to a 35-0 Class 1A District 4 Homecoming victory over Woodward Academy Friday night in Hudson.
Just two-minutes and ten-seconds into the game, the Pirates scored on their opening offensive possession to take a 7-0 lead. The area's leading passer, Quarterback Cale Henke, passed to Carter Anderson for the first Hudson touchdown. Henke came into the game with more than 800 passing yards in just four games.
Later in the first quarter, 6-5 senior end Aaron Oltmann blocked a Woodward Academy punt, as he blasted through a host of defenders. On the very next play, Henke found a streaking Tanner Wright in stride down the far side line for a 24-yard touchdown pass.
Tanner Wright scored the next two first-half touchdowns for the Pirates on short running plays.
Hudson led 27-0 at half and went on to shutout Woodward Academy, 35-0.
The victory gives Hudson two straight wins and a 2-1 District 4 record.
Next week, the Pirates go on the road to face Ogden, while Woodward Academy will try to bounce back at home against Eagle Grove.
