License suspended for Janesville Meat Locker

JANESVILLE (KWWL) -- The Iowa Department of Agriculture says the Janesville Meat Locker's license to sell their product has been suspended indefinitely, because of "failing to maintain sanitation at their facility."

The locker has been closed since the suspension Sept. 3.

Workers at the locker say it's a bad time to be closed. They want to be up and running to process beef and hogs, and deer season is coming up.

Workers say they are replacing doors and sandblasting the interior of the 70-year-old building, with hopes to be back open in three or four weeks.

The Agriculture Department says they can continue business once things are up to code.
