Investigators identify two people found dead in burning home

JO DAVIESS COUNTY, Ill. (KWWL) -- Tuesday, the county Sheriff's Department released names for the two people who died in a house fire Sunday.

A release from the department said investigators believe the two victims are homeowners James and Margaret Marnowski, 62 and 63, respectively.

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Department said the bodies are undergoing DNA testing to confirm those identities.

The Sheriff's Department arrived on the scene after firefighters extinguished the blaze and found two bodies inside Sunday.

Along with DNA tests, a toxicology test will help determine how they died, and the cause of the fire. Both are still under investigation.

Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Department detective Chad Heidenreich said, "until we're further into our investigation, we're not going to comment on it. Once the investigation gets a little further down the line, I think we'll be able to comment more on it."

Heidenreich said the investigation so far has included questioning neighbors and family members.

The house is on Glenagle Court in Jo Daviess County.

The fire department and Illinois State Fire Marshal's office are also investigating Sunday's fatal blaze.
