WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Are you dreading that talk with your kids about the birds and the bees?
Well, here's a talk that may be more stressful than that one.
A recent survey shows talking to kids about allowance can be as stressful as negotiating for a new car.
Here are some valuable tips for parents getting ready for the "money talk" with kids:
-Get the money talk moving by setting responsibilities what they pay for, such as movies, lip gloss, and then what you buy.
-Set the amount a little less than what they need, so they can work to earn more.
-Stick to a payday so they know paying bills on time is important and if your allowance is tied to chores never pay unless the work is done.
And it never hurts to get your kids to sit down and pay the bills with you.
Let them see just how much it costs to run a house and especially for teens, own a car.
