I-Jobs money given to Cedar Rapids for flood wall

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- The Cedar Rapids Parks and Recreation Department is getting $1.075 million in I-Jobs funding to construct a levee and flood wall along the west bank of the Cedar River from 3rd Avenue SW to approximately H Avenue SW.

The new flood wall and levee will serve as a portion of the future flood protection system for the west side of Cedar Rapids and will connect with segments that will be built later.

The project will  also prepare the site for a separately funded riverfront amphitheater that's intended to jump-start the development of a 2.9 mile greenway along the west side of the river that will eventually tie into the city's overall open space and flood protection network.
