Three hurt in Benton County accident

VINTON (KWWL) -- Three people were hurt on Monday in a two vehicle accident near Shellsburg.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office says that Diane Lynn Blakley, 55, of Urbana, was headed south on 32nd Avenue at around 8:15 a.m. when her vehicle went onto the shoulder.  As Blakley pulled back onto the road, Sheriff Randy Forsyth says she over-corrected which caused her SUV to go across the road and hit a pick-up driven by William Joseph Driscoll, 63, of Newhall.

The impact of the crash sent Driscoll's truck into the east ditch where it flipped over, coming to rest on its wheels.

A passenger in the Driscoll vehicle, Richard Leroy Frame, 62, of Norway, along with Driscoll, had to be extricated using the Jaws of Life.

Driscoll and Blakley were both taken to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, while Frame was flown by Life Guard Helicopter to St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Sheriff Forsyth says all injuries were non-life threatening

The accident remains under investigation.
